They both need each other when it comes to carrying out the research itself. The anthropologist will need help from the society through funds and other help that an anthropologist will need. On the other hand, the broader society will benefit greatly from the research carried out and thus be able to improve or better they day to day life. In the end both parties will benefit. The researcher would be happy with the research and the society will be able to look at the results and implement changes where necessary. Anthropologist benefit comes from the fact that the research is complete and if it gets published, he will gain recognition in the anthropological world.
