Who Started the American Socialist Party?
The Socialist Central Committee created the American Socialist Party in 2009. Several of its membership come from the many different socialist groupings, tendencies, organizations, parties, political action committees, etc. Each person brought something new to the our round table of socialism and each arrived for their own reasons. The American Socialist Party’s main purpose is to never expel or divide those who call themselves socialist and are center-left. ASP is an inclusive party open to many different groups to reach a synthesis on what is socialism today and to keep such a statement current in the 21st century.
