Who was captain moonlight?
Andrew George Scott 1842 – 1880, known as Captain Moonlight, was an Australian bushranger. Born in Ireland he was a mercenary and sometime civil engineer before he arrived in Australia in 1868. After serving various terms in prison for robbery he decided to become a bushranger. He wasn’t especially good at his chosen profession and after a shootout with the police in 1879 which led to the death of his accomplice and a Police constable, he was arrested, tried, inevitably sentenced to death and was hanged in Sydney on 20 January 1880.
