After being in college for almost five years Christiaan Neethling Barnard got his Master’s Degree from the University of Cape Town in 1953. In the year of 1954, Chritiaan Neethling Barnard preformed the first ever successful kidney transplant and by the year 1961, he was made the head of cardio-thoracic surgery at his university, making him to be known as Dr. Barnard.  more
