Who was Mary Magdalene anyway?
By: Pr. Kungsong Wanbe Though there were two/three different Marys in the New Testament Bible, Mary Magdalene was the Mary of Bethany, the sister of Martha and Lazarus. She was forcibly sent by her uncle Simon, the leper to the village/town called Magdala for engaging in the shameful business of prostitution so she was known as Mary Magdalene. She was the one from whom Jesus cast out seven demons. She was the one whom the Pharisees caught while in the act of adultery and brought to Jesus. The following area a few accounts which help us to identify Mary of Bethany as Mary Magdalene. As mentioned above Mary went to the town called Magdala for the immoral business. While she was engaging the business of prostitution, she was possessed by evil spirits, became sick and even lunatic. It was at that time that Jesus and his disciples entered the western shore of the lake of Galilee near the town of Magdala, and they were preaching the good news of heaven.
