Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a British physician and novelist known for his detective stories featuring unforgettable Sherlock Holmes. He was born in 1859 and studied at the University of Edinburgh. After completing his education, he started practising medicine in South sea, England. He was a writer who had a passion for writing detective stories. The first of 60 stories featuring Sherlock Holmes titled ‘A Study in Scarlet’ came out in 1887. Holmes’s inventive reasoning was based on one of Doyle’s own university professors. Equally brilliant characters were Holmes’s friend Dr. Watson and the master criminal Professor Moriarty.
