WHO WAS STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN?
I have been a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan for many years. I was assigned to write something for the FAQ about Stevie Ray Vaughan. In order to do that I asked many people this question: Who was Stevie Ray Vaughan? All the answers were like this: He was a bluesman. A guitar hero. A junkie. All that is true. He was a guitar virtuoso. He was an alcoholic and a drug addict who got clean and sober. After over 20 years of life in the fast lane Stevie Ray cleaned up. He got rehabilitated on both soul and body. Through all his life, all the drugs and all the personal troubles, he only had one goal–to play the guitar. He grew up listening and playing the music of men like Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Eric Clapton and many others. On his final appearance just before he died, he shared the stage with his heroes, friends and fans. After playing the music of his heroes all his life, he got to know them and play music with them. He listened to the best. He learned from the best. He became one of
