Hamilcar Barca, the father of Hannibal, was the Carthaginian leader during the First Punic War, leading to much lost power and influence for Carthage in the ancient world. The more famous Hannibal was the supreme military leader of Carthage during the Second Punic War during which he invaded Italy bringing his elephants over the Alps.
