Who was the youngest player ever to play in the major leagues?

Joe Nuxhall was not the youngest player to play in a Major League game. He was the youngest to do so in the 20th century, but not overall. Fred Chapman was 14 when he appeared in a game for the Philadelphia Athletics of the American Association in 1887. Billy Geer was 14 when he appeared in two games for the New York Mutuals of the National Association in 1874. At the age of 15 he played in a few games for the New Haven Elm Citys in 1875 as well.
