Reports have announced that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will be replacing Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres on American Idol. However, with reports about Kara DioGuardi being fired, it might only be a 3-person judges’ table. Nigel Lithgow, TV tycoon and executive producer of American Idol, says that the show functions better with just 3.

Here is the overview of the Idol judge candidates:

Steven Tyler has been the Aerosmith for years and will bring a great level of expertise to the show. Hopefully, he will bring the harsh criticism that Simon Cowell left behind. Tyler has received an offer to join the show, and will hopefully accept. He is a real music tycoon that can act as a real mentor to these people.

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly excited to join the show. She has been in the music business for a long time and knows how to make a hit record. After her rough patch in her career and taking time off to start a family with Mark Anthony, this might be just the boost that J-Lo needs to makeover her celebrity image.

Jessica Simpson is also being considered to fill Ellen’s spot, if J-Lo denies the position.
