Don’t look now, but there’s two-time defending Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson tied for first with Carl Edwards. Thanks to what some call a points re-set (start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup awarding each Chase driver 5,000 points) combined with Biffle’s win and Busch’s 34th-place finish at New Hampshire Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson now share the points lead after the first race of the 10-race Chase. Jimmie Johnson almost won his third consecutive race until Greg Biffle passed the No. 48 car with 31 laps and sprinted to the checkered flag. An unlikely winner was Biffle, who had not won in 33 races (since Kansas last year). But as I said last week anything can happen at NHMS and it often does. Jimmie Johnson has three wins at Dover and as the active driver with the second most wins at Dover behind Jeff Gordon, JJ will be a force on Sunday without a doubt.
