Who Won The Battle The Second Manassas?
The Confederates won a decisive victory in the Second Battle of Manassas (also called Second Bull Run). Pope hammered against Jackson’s Corps, which was well-entrenched in a good defensive position. Completely unknown to Pope, Longstreet’s Corps came up and took position on Pope’s flank. When Pope resumed the attack on Jackson, Longstreet’s entire Corp hit Pope’s flank in the largest single assault of the war. Pope’s flank divisions were crushed, and the entire Union Army retrteated in disarray.
