James Denton: Teri’s character, Susan, is a better fit for him. But the last thing he needs is to really fall in love, because he’s there on a mission. So I think he might be better served by spending a few nights at Edie’s house, no strings attached, as opposed to getting into an emotional thing with Susan! TVGO: Mike’s in town with a secret motive and carries a gun. Is he FBI? Denton: There’s a lot of speculation. Some people think that because his name is “Delfino,” he’s a mob guy, even though I’m so clearly not Italian. When I auditioned, I asked Mark Cherry if there was anything else I could do [to land the part]. He said, “Uh, be more Italian,” and we just cracked up. TVGO: Don’t evade the question, sir. Denton: The guy really is a plumber for a living. He’s not a cop. He really is just a guy with a gun. Somebody in the neighborhood has done him wrong, and he’s there to find out who it is.
