Why a conservation policy and wildlife management is needed ?
Wildlife management in national parks and conservation goes together. When the park is fenced you need to manage the basic balances between the species. Some species progress and other are endangered. For example, in Kruger NP the wild dogs are stabilizing and the elephants group grows fast. The elephant case of Kruger NP in South Africa is a famous case to see the interaction of wildlife, wildlife management and conservation within the parks. The protection of elephants in the Kruger NP is a success story. The healthy growth in elephant population is due to different factors. Policies like anti-poaching teams, extra water supply in the dry season and a lot of space for a own home range per herd. In 2005 the Kruger management counted about 11000 elephants in the park. Signs of overpopulation of elephants in Kruger NP became clear. These big mammals are capable to change some habitats deeply.
