I suppose Sienna (answerer above) intended to say “homogeneous,” not “homozygous.” If you are aware of Korea’s history, its homogeneity pretty much defines why some Koreans are criticized for discriminating people other than their own nationality– not race; Asians fall in the category as well. Korea’s homogeneity is “the source of pride and prejudice” (Shin). To make a long story short, Korea’s long history of being under colonial rule, imperial Japan being noteworthy among them, stemmed the strong feelings against “outsiders.” With that being said, Korea has remained– in a sense– isolationist. This can explain why you hardly see foreign car brands and restaurants serving foreign dishes in Korea. The younger generations in Korea seem to neglect this and rather hold interest in foreigners.
