Why are boat marinas always full?

I dunno the statistics but all the boat owners I know use their boats for recreation only on weekends and vacations. They stay tied up 99% of the time. So at any given time the vast majority of them are tied up. In resort areas (I go to Key West a lot) the boats may not get used more than once a month or even less when the out of towners pop in. We stayed on a (rented) boat in the Key West Conch Harbor Marina for a couple of two week stretches…probably 50 boats on the pier where ours was tied up. If I saw 4 or 5 go out on any given day it was a lot and most of them didn’t show signs of life for the whole two weeks. If you can afford toys in that price range you can afford the dock fees…and to let ’em sit for long periods of time. I’m gonna do the same thing just as soon as I win the PowerBall. Sources: If you are going to day dream about stuff you can’t afford you might as well day dream about stuff you REALLY can’t afford.
