Both wanted complete control over the private lives of their citizens and often restricted civil liberties such as freedom of speech, religion, press, and assembly. Fascism was much more right wing, favoring a capitalist economic policy, whereas communism favored complete governmental control, a socialist economic policy.

Communism is not a political philosophy, it is an economic system as capitalism is an economic system. Fascism is totalitarian. The only countries I know of that were fascist are Germany and Italy during WWII. They operated as a totalitarian govt.

Because some people are too far removed from education and political fact, while they embrace fiction for the sensationalist effect of it. Fascism is right-wing authoritarian. It is a reactionary movement against anti-corporatism, communism and liberalism essentially a way to prevent class warfare. Communism is left-wing non-authoritarian or libertarian. It is actually the absence of state and authority and class division. A stateless classless Utopian dream. It is largely regarded as an economic system, but can also refer to the government that supports such a socio-economic system. Socialism is the left authoritarian system that invoved centralized power over means of production of goods and services throughout an economy.

Communism doesn’t call for totalitarianism. Totalitarianism is the result of trying to create a communist “utopia”.
