Why are file-browsing dialogs slow?

If you find the client software is taking a very long time to load up file browse dialogs, the most likely cause is a bug in the Java Runtime Environment and Windows ZIP folders. This problem is currently under review from Sun Microsystems (the makers of the Java language) and so for the meantime, we can offer the following workaround – please disable Windows ZIP folders via the following: For Windows XP • Click the “Start” menu • Choose “Run” • Type: regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll • You should see the message “DllUnregisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\zipfldr.dll succeeded” For Windows Vista • Download this registry patch • Double-click the vistaunzip.reg file, and then click Continue, Yes, and then OK when prompted. • Restart Windows (the change won’t take effect until you do).
