Why are fungi more advanced than protists?

At least some of them are multi-cellular, even if they are only “poly-cellular” (multi-cellular means that an organism is made of many cells, and implies that different cells do different things to support the good of the entire organism – – such as the stem of a mushroom) …whereas “poly-cellular” (which is my own made-up term; I don’t know if there is a correct proper term) is more or less just a “blob” of cells all functioning the same, and not acting much differently from a “blob” of 2 cells, from a blob of 200 cells, from a blob of 2 million cells. This is not much different from – – nor more “advanced” than protists.
