Answer: Gun cases generally prevent scratching etc. Guns aren’t as delicate as guitars..at least acoustic ones. A good case protects as well as helps control humidity. A good guitar case is constructed very differently than your average gun case. Several layers of velour, wood, metal, fiberglass…depends on the case. I don’t have a problem spending a few hundred dollars on a guitar costing a couple of thousand. This isn’t what you were hoping for, but hardshell cases are the best bargain going if you have a guitar you care anything about. 20 years ago (in 20 years ago *dollars*), any hardshell case was $100.
