The recall is being expanded based on the ongoing epidemiological and traceback investigation of a foodborne illness outbreak. Kroger grocery stores across the Mid-South recalled store-brand ground beef products because of a possible E. coli contamination. Three cases of beef supplied by the Colorado-based JBS Swift Beef Co. were dispersed on April 27 somewhere among 110 stores. Included in the recall are stores in Memphis and West Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, southern Missouri and southwest Kentucky. Kroger is asking customers to check their freezer for Kroger brand and store packaged ground beef with sell-by dates from April 27 to June 1. Kroger is notifying customers by phone and E-mail.
