They contain vitamin C which helps with a cold but not a sore throat. You have honey and lemon because honey soothes the throat and lemon helps your cold. Take some anti- inflammitory pain killers like Ibruprofen.

Lemons are definitely good the help u fight bacteria in the throat area. Most people use it with honey to help it go down since it could be nasty, strong to swallow.

I don’t think they are -it’s more to do with the fact that a sore throat usually accompanies a cold, for which vitamin C can help. Mix hot water, the juice of half a lemon and a spoonful of runny honey together. You could also dissolve a couple of paracetemol in it (as long as you haven’t taken it in any other form). I tend to find that sleep is the only thing that really cures me though….Hope this helps. get well soon!
