Why are multiple key pairs used in X-Wire?

0

Most encryption solutions use one key pair that is certified to a certain user. X-Wire actually uses three key pairs. One key pair is used for signing, another for encrypting, and a third for acknowledging message receipts and other communication related issues. This is done so the keys may be managed in different ways, at the discretion of the node owner. For instance, a node owner can decide to allow his secretary to use his node in order to keep abreast of incoming messages, but he does not want his secretary to sign in his name. The secretary is then allowed to control the decryption key, but not the signing key. Another example is an EDI system that automatically signs message acknowledgements. The key to do that would be available in the 24×7 system, even when the node owner has decided to not leave his signing key unattended.
