Why are my central heating pipes banging really loudly?

Sounds like the whole system has air in it. Turn your heating off and wait ten minutes for the air to accumalate at the top of the rads. Then if you have a combi boiler, check water pressure after bleeding each rad. If the problem still persists then It is most likely that the water in the storage tank is not filling up the system. That is if it is not a combi boiler. All you can do then is to locate which pie is filling the boiler. It will be a 22mm pipe and when you find where it is located on the boiler, Just loosen the joint a bit, and see if water comes out. If it doesn’t, then there is a blockage in this feed pipe. I had one a while back with the same problem and there was sawdust blocking the pipe from work done in the attic where the sawdust got into the filler tank.
