Why are not the Pantone colors reproduced reliably on a digital printing?

0

The digital printing generates the colors from four (4) CMYK colors. This combination brings about a spectrum of colors. The Pantone palette was first designed with plain dyes that are not inevitably reproduced with the CMYK colors. For this reason, about 60% of colors can be reproduced. From the 60%, the digital printer approaches the color by using four dyes; but, this is just a close approximation. A good solution to could be either to use the CMYK equivalent of the Pantone on the files or to use Pantone Process colors which were designed for digital printings.
