Why are people so against unusual names and don step out the box..?
I much prefer slightly more unusual names than super common every day names like Hannah or James – I’d much prefer my child to have a more unusual name. When I was a kid, my name was super unusual (it’s become more popular recently), but I liked being the only kid in my school with that name – I’d have hated to be one of the hundreds of Jennifers or Hayleys because it would have just been so boring. A child’s name in no way dictates how successful they will be in life, but I think certain names cause other people to pre-judge them incorrectly – it’s wrong, but it happens. I think, for example, that whether it’s true or not, at a job interview a girl named Elizabeth would be prejudged as being more intelligent than a girl named Mykynzy – it’s just stereotypes and misconceptions, but I think it’s important to be aware of that when naming your child.
