Why are people so hard on seal hunters?
it’s against regulations to skin a seal alive by the seal hunt regulations. Saying 40% are skinned alive is just buying into bad information that draws numbers out of thin air. Seal hunted have been wrongly portrayed as barbarians by people who make their money off protesting the hunt. They are hard working people who make their living in ways their families have for generations. Seal populations are in the millions with a seal hunt they are not at risk. It is against regulations to kill a seal pup. And it is against regulations not mention virtually impossible to skin a seal alive. Yes it looks bloody but so would a slaughter house if you went inside. how is mechanically hitting a cow on the head acceptable but the idea of shooting or quickly killing a seal with a hakipik so shocking. It’s out of sight out of mind. The only reason people freak about the seal hunt is because they have become so far removed form nature.
