Why are pregnant women being offered non-adjuvanted vaccine?
The Chief Public Health Officer of Canada has stated that the Government of Canada has reserved 1.2 million doses of unadjuvanted pandemic vaccine for pregnant women. The World Health Organization recommended in July that pregnant women should receive non-adjuvanted vaccine where possible, as no clinical data of the safety of adjuvanted vaccine in this group is available. Canada’s purchase of non-adjuvanted vaccine is in line with this recommendation.
