Why are script writers such money chasing bastards?
There speaks somebody who has never tried to write something halfway decent! Writing is bloody hard work, and is the most essential element for a good piece of television: a show and its actors are only as good as the writers. Writers work tirelessly, coming up with ideas, drafting and redrafting to create shows that you, as a consumer, may like but treat as generally disposable. Actors turn up, learn a few lines and repeat them and get paid handsomely, and producers and television companies reap huge rewards through distribution rights etc, while writers, with few exceptions, are underpaid. It’s not greed, its trying to make a decent living that’s suited to the degree of work involved.
