Why are siblings so annoying?
Because you are in instinctive competition with them for about everything — from your parent’s affections/approval to the last piece of bacon on the table. Just look at the animal kingdom when the young go to nurse from their momma. They all jostle and fight for the ‘best’ position — and the loser gets to be the runt. Later on, during dominance practice games, it’s the runt that takes the brunt of the beatings. In humans, it ain’t so different. Like a fast and flashy car, and despite our intellectual trappings, we still have that ol’ dinosaur grease running the engine. In other words, we are still driven by the ‘reptilian brain’ to compete with our siblings over every little detail. And that ‘nit-pick’ annoying crap they do? Its about dominance, or “who is boss”. If they can get a rise — or anything! — out of you, then they have ‘controlled’ you. And we don’t LIKE being controlled, do we — even if it is just a barb to get us mad.
