Why are some people against gays adopting babies?

0

As an adoptee who is also the mother of a gay child, I am against ANYONE adopting a baby. A baby should ONLY be adopted if they have NO other natural family members to raise them. I personally have no issues with gay/lesbian couples adopting children from foster care, though. Love is love. Period. BUT- Jeffrey Dahmer was abandoned by his natural mother when his parents divorced, and was raised primarily by his father. It has been said he suffered severe abandonment issues, so throwing Chrsitianity into the mix does not hold any weight with me. Parents from any religion/belief/socio-economic background can raise children who are serial killers, but adoptees and/or abandoned children have a higher rate of committing these types of crimes versus non adoptees.

I have friends who are gay, have adopted and are great parents. The main Christian argument generally is that if gay/lesbians were meant to be parents God would have made them so they could have a child naturally instead of adopting. I was coerced into my son being adopted and had I found out he was adopted by a gay or lesbian couple then I would have been upset. It’s nothing to do with their sexuality or parenting skills just down to personal choice. Had I chosen adoption my choice would have been for him to be raised by a hetersexual couple as I wanted him to have a mother and father although if I had raised him I would have been a single parent.
