Why are the edges of the tiles darker after cleaning?
A Stain Solver user commented “Cleaned grout on ceramic bathroom tile on sink counter. Mixed solution and followed instructions on bottle. The edges of some tiles have darkened. The tile is an off white color. Please help my wife is going to kill me! See attached picture.” There could be several reasons for this discoloration. First, the edges on some inexpensive tiles are not glazed. This allows water to soak into the tile creating the dark coloration. Another possible cause is the ceramic tile was made with clay that was not as dense or hard as it should have been.
