Why are the gross earnings on my payment summary different to my payslip year to date?

Salary sacrifice reduces taxable salary and will therefore reduce the gross payment that is reportable on payment summaries. If you have salary sacrificed your superannuation or other items, your payment summary will not be the same as your year to date earnings on the payslip listing. Salary sacrificed items have already received a taxation benefit and therefore should not be claimed as a deduction on your tax return. CSU recommends you seek qualified independent financial advice.
