Why are the International Stroke Conference and Scientific Sessions being held in New Orleans in 2008?
• The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has almost a 20-year history of holding major medical meetings in New Orleans. The 2008 meetings were scheduled eight years ago, and we saw no reason to change that. We will continue to support the city, its residents, patients and our volunteers there. The AHA/ASA believes it is important to keep meeting in New Orleans to show our support. After Sept. 11, AHA relocated some meetings scheduled for other cities to New York to support that city.
