Why are the names of homeopathic remedies in Latin?
There are over 3000 base substances (stem substances) for homeopathic use. Vegetable bases (i.e. Arnica Montana) and animal bases (i.e. Apis mellifica) are defined by their scientific name, in Latin. By extension, Latin naming is used for the other bases whose composition or preparation follows strict rules. This way, healthcare professionals around the world can precisely identify the remedies they are talking about.
