The underpinning message standard upon which PMIP is based has received professional approval based upon experience of the scale of use with these disciplines and formal clinical and technical scrutiny of implementations. It would not be viable for national implementation of these standards to be mandated for other disciplines without equivalent experience and scrutiny.
