Why are the steam rooms, saunas and whirlpool located on the pool deck instead of inside the locker rooms?
For the safety of all members and guests, the decision was made to locate these amenities on the pool deck where they can be properly monitored by YMCA staff. Our insurance company recommends that as we build new YMCA facilities, to place steam rooms, saunas and whirlpools in a location that staff can supervise and respond to in case of an emergency. We will be monitoring temperatures, chemicals and exposure times. We have been very fortunate over the years not to have had more accidents in these areas.
