Why are Tropic Thunder demonstrators so adamant to ban the movie?

Yes, this movie which could offend on many levels (having a white actor play a black character through “black-face” dermatology), the one thing that is causing the most protest is the use of the word “retard.” “But the biggest controversy to emerge before the film’s release turned out to be something else: its use of the term “retard.”” I have no desire to see this movie, although I saw the trailer when I was at the movies to see “The Dark Knight.” But not because of the use of the word “Retard” but because it’s not my kind of movie. I don’t find the humor funny, although many others do. Those who will love this film won’t care about the use of the “R” word. Those who don’t like this type of film will fixate on the use of the “R” word to criticize it. Either way, see it for yourself and you decide.
