Why are tryouts so close together and overlap, and why Thanksgiving week?
Tryouts can’t be held for High School players until the season ends and state finals are over (typically mid-November) in all states in our Chesapeake Region (Delaware, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia). Tryouts for elementary and middle school age teams may be earlier. Clubs start try-outs as soon after that as they can (Thanksgiving week) to allow time to evaluate players, form teams and complete registration by early December. Practices start immediately after teams are registered to get ready for season competition starting the first week in January after break.
