WHY ARE UPPER AND MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS DIGGING IN THEIR OWN TRASH FOR METAL?
Dude, first off, where the heck did you get the idea that upper and middle class Americans are digging in their own trash for metal to supplement their income? Sounds like something from some bazaar anti-american publication trying to paint a picture of Americans being demoralized and on the verge of social and economic collapse. I can assure you that that is quite far from the truth. Regardless of how many actual dollars that one can get from the few scraps of metal in one’s trash, it is senseless to waste such a resource. As a middle class American, not only do I separate the aluminum cans from the rest of my trash, I also separate out paper and plastic as well. Further, all organic waste like vegetable peelings go directly into my compost pile. How much money do I receive for doing this? Exactly zero. So, why would I bother?
