Why are we not cutting world population growth instead of messing around with the effects of global warming?
I agree with your point — (the number of) people are at the root cause of the global warming problem .It is people that use energy and resources.So the more people there are, the more energy that is used.The problem is how to bring about a reduction in the planet’s population ? I suspect that eventually each country will decide this for themselves .After looking at their own situations, they will decide a population target, a date by which to achieve it ,and the mechanism for achieving it.For the UK , for example , I would propose : A population target of between 50 – 55 million by the year 2050 And to achieve this , I would introduce strict limits on all immigration, and fix a date from which tax reliefs and other child benefits would stop for a third child and more.And introduce further measures if these didn’t work quickly enough. I don’t like any of this , but I think the situation really is that serious .
