Why are white middle class people so against their own fellow Brits?
I’d say it’s largely to do with the differing media consumption between the UK classes. The educated tend to form their opinions based on reading modestly thorough & balanced articles in one or a number of half-decently written papers. Those “less well heeled” will more likely consume the sensationalist Red Top media and, hence will be more likely form a more 2 dimensional view of the issues at hand. Even worse these people might form opinions from their own experiences – and as the saying goes “the soldier knows no more of the battle than the hole he’s in.” To be balanced, the middle classes do personally reap the benefits of immigration (better, cheaper tradesmen etc) whereas the workers tend to bear the downside (having to compete with cheaper, better tradesmen.) However the tendancy is not for those against immigration to argue along these lines; the focus tends to be on strained public services and similar, which I would imagine is a result of media & political manipulation.
