WHY ARENT THE POPEYE CARTOONS RELEASED ON VIDEO?
Warner Bros. (they own the films) and King Features (they own the character) are finally talking and may make a deal someday. In the meantime, I highly reccommend you watch (and tape) the new “Classic Popeye” Show on Cartoon Network, starting Oct. 28, 2001, entitled “I’M POPEYE” which will air Sunday night/Monday morning at 1:00am after COWBOY BEBOP (ADULT SWIM). WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE CLASSIC CARTOONS? I never really gave it much thought but just for the fun of it, off the top of my head, here are eight absolutes I never get tired of (in no particular order, click on each of the first 5 for more information): •COAL BLACK AND DE SEBBEN DWARFS •SUPERMAN (the first one) •SINKIN’ IN THE BATHTUB •DER FUHRER’S FACE •Disney’s DUMBO (the feature) •RUSSIAN RHAPSODY •BOOK REVUE •SCRAP HAPPY DAFFY I’d also like to have a tape with: Every Bob Clampett cartoon 1942-46 (and the TV Beany & Cecil’s), a Famous Studios cartoon with the original titles (maybe a Baby Huey)
