Why Bungalow Productions?

“Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful and believe to be beautiful.” When William Morris penned these words in the late 19th century, he captured the essence of the Arts and Crafts style. A reaction to both the Victorian era and the Industrial Age, the movement sought to return simplicity and craftsmanship to the business of building and furnishing homes. The bungalow grew naturally out of the Arts and Crafts era. While many Americans could not afford expansive homes, they reveled in the affordable artistry and breezy floor plans of the compact dwellings. In 1995, my husband and I bought a 1926 Craftsman bungalow with tapered front porch columns, natural woodwork and original three-on-one windows. Over the next seven years, we scrubbed plaster, gutted rooms and sanded floors, all the while paying homage to its history.
