Why can a man marry four wives but a woman only have one husband?
If women were to marry more than one man at a time, it would be difficult to know which was the real father of the child. Muslim women can marry more than one man in succession, but not all at the same time. Muslim men are not under an obligation to marry more than one wife, but when the need arises then they can, under the conditions prescribed by the holy Quran.
