A. First glass has to be separated into the three colours (Green, Brown & Clear). If they were to be put in the Blue bin they would be mixed plus they would get broken in the lorries making it virtually impossible to separate the different colours of glass. Not only would the glass be contaminated but the glass would contaminate the other materials in the Blue Bin. Broken glass would end up trapped with other materials resulting in the recycling industry rejecting the material. Our contract is for Newspapers & Magazines only – this is a specific type of waste that is accepted by the recycling industry. Office Paper waste is another type and most recycling outlets want the two types separate. If they are mixed in the Blue bin then it becomes very difficult (and expensive) to separate thus our contractor will not accept this material in the blue bin. The materials we accept in the Blue bin are relatively easy to separate and there are viable recycling industry outlets for them along with
