Why can a small handful of Christians take a joke?

Your question doesn’t say what it was that struck them wrong, so it’s hard to say why it happened. Christians are every bit as humorous and appreciative of a good laugh as is anyone else. We laugh, tell jokes (sometimes of a religious nature, and even directed at ourselves), hang out at comedy clubs, and even (please don’t tell my Christian friends) enjoy South Park or The Family Guy. What no responsible Christian finds amusing is when the joke crosses the lines of blasphemy. Would you walk up to the biggest bouncer in a club and blurt out a sexual joke about his mother? Well, mocking God is a whole lot more dangerous, and offensive to a Christian who witnesses it, than that.

Your point is well taken that it is a handful that cannot take a joke. I learned all my good Jesus jokes in a christian college, though, some do have a sense of humor. But as previously noted, some people have no sense of humor and some think it’s ok to laugh at others faiths but their own is off limits. As long as your humor is humor and not rude or smarta$$, they do need to get over it. You’re allowed to make jokes all you want. When you hit on politics or religion, you do get the humorless fruitcakes in large numbers, it’s their nature.
