In general, most schools in public health are much larger in size than most graduate public health programs as they are self-contained units within a university. Many graduate public health programs function within schools, often under academic departments in the health sciences disciplines. Graduate public health programs are accredited by the same CEPH accrediting body as the 37 accredited schools of public health. A quarter of the professionals entering into the public health workforce with an MPH degree are educated and trained by graduate public health programs. Nationwide, there are 127 accredited graduate programs in public health, mostly within schools of medicine. Sixty-two of these programs are CEPH-accredited.
