Why can I use Powr-Gard® luminaires with 400-watt metal halide lamps in a paint spray booth?
Before a lighting fixture can be installed in a potentially hazardous location, it must meet the luminaire operating temperature requirements of the UL844 Listing applicable to that installation. In the questioned instance, the exterior temperatures of the luminaire would be too high for a paint spray booth installation. The GE Lighting Systems Product Catalog — GEA-12000G — contains the temperature data that governs luminaire application as do the actual UL 844 documents.
