Why can’t my partially breastfeeding infant receive formula the first month of life?
To help protect mother’s milk supply, formula will not be issued from WIC to breastfeeding infants up to one month of age. WIC wants to support mom’s breastfeeding establishment. Instead of formula WIC will be offering breastfeeding education and guidance. WIC offers breastfeeding moms referrals to breastfeeding professionals, an enhanced food package, breast pumps, etc.
